ChristCare Ministry
The ChristCare Ministry within Christ Episcopal Church has shown steady growth since its inception in 2003. The groups meet to enjoy fellowship, share in group prayer and worship, study Biblical Scripture, and participate in missional service activities which benefit the surrounding community.
One particular missional service success has been our annual Renewal of Marriage Vows celebration, which is sponsored by one of the ChristCare small groups. In Oct. each year couples celebrating wedding anniversaries in multiples of 5 (5, 10, 15, yrs. etc.) renew their marriage vows at the 9:00 Sunday service. The church and social hall are specially decorated and following the service the entire congregation enjoys a festive reception in the social hall.
At the present time, there are six ChristCare groups which meet every two weeks, at times which suit the group members. Each group chooses its own direction. Some groups are focused on prayer, while others have chosen a book of the Bible or theological topic to study in depth. A new group has just been formed which has the special focus of care and support for cancer patients and survivors. The ChristCare Ministry has enriched Christ Church and has helped its members to deepen their faith and increase participation in helping others within and outside Christ Church.
We currently have some trained group leaders that are ready to start new groups. Anyone interested in joining a group is encouraged to contact Jan or Brian Melin at (847)395-4074.
